Most of us live with the thought that it’s okay to suffer now, because it will all be worth it later on. We work really hard and sacrifice our time and energy because we believe that’s how it needs to be done. Days turn to weeks and months and before you know it life takes on this routine where you work for ten months, just to have a two month holiday, during which you’re so tired that you end up just sitting around not doing anything you really wanted to anyway. It’s true we need money to survive, and having more money gives you more luxuries and that’s all well and good but what are you doing for yourself right now to make you happy? You have the money yet you keep postponing buying that car you always dreamed of having. What happened to that kid who loved to travel and wished they had the funds to back them up? Well you have it now yet you make excuses about not having enough leave left.
It’s baffling how we consider ourselves adults and yet for most of us, we’re controlled by people in every direction. We always feel obligated, we always put ourselves down. We wait for the day when we’ll be happy but why should we? There’s little things we can do right now to take back our control. Actions we can be proud of. Situations that can make us happy. What more do we really need than a change of mindset? If it’s not easy to make big changes such as booking that overseas holiday then why not start small? Take two minutes a day and do something that’s just for you. We feel it’s selfish to think about ourselves because of the conditioning we received. We feel the need to be there for our parents, friends, partners and kids all the time but we really don’t need to be. As much as it’s amazing to be a part of this collective energy of love, we are still individuals and we need to make sure we’re of optimal physical and emotional health before we can aid others.
Remember you know what you want and need to be happy, things that don’t come at the cost of yourself or others. It’s important to go after our desires but we should never feel we have the right to do this in a way that makes someone else unhappy or confined. So find ways to smile everyday, a genuine smile that comes from a place a fulfilment in your soul. Do this for you and by doing so you’re ultimately contributing to a healthier, happier world around you and for this I thank you!
