What do I do with the rest of my life?

As we grow, most of us feel this mounting pressure about how we are going to survive in this world – and not just survive but thrive in it.

It’s a scary thought to some that they have to pick something, just one thing, to do for the rest of their lives and in a world full of options it seems as if there is only two, i.e. success or failure. To find this ‘one thing’ people shadow others, do what their friends do, do what their parents have done, take online quizzes, travel the world or just flip a coin.

So now I would like to throw my opinion into the bowl. What if we all were already born with a purpose? What if the key to finding what we need to do, isn’t learning what’s right for us but unlearning all the things that are useless to us? We always tell ourselves that we aren’t smart enough to invent or create, aren’t vocal enough to be in a position of power, but why do we tell ourselves that? We go to school, write a test under such controlled environments where the fun is taken out of learning and then the results tell us if we are going to be successful or fail! How crazy is that? We put our lives or the mindsets of our lives into the hands of someone whose only ‘skill’ is that they passed the tests that someone else set and pleased that person.

I truly believe we need to find an understanding of ourselves. We need to use the means we feel comfortable with, to go deeper within our minds. To not be afraid of our thoughts. We need to remember again why we chose to be here, and why we chose to go through it with these people. When you feel happy, fulfilled and grateful each morning, you know that you are doing the thing you should be doing for the rest of your life, and that thing is being yourself!
