Dealing with Dark Days

Have you ever felt that you would never be happy again?! You’re breathing and your heart is beating yet you feel as if you’re not even a part of this moment or this world.

If you’re still reading and you answered yes to the above question then congratulations! You my fellow being have reached one of the best phases of your life.

It’s definitely not going to feel that way right now but isn’t that always how it is when we are hurt, be it physical or emotional. It’s only later on that we realise we developed scars and that scar tissue is stronger than the parts that are unbroken. Those hurts are eventually considered lessons and we become supporters for others that are dealing with it. Well this is no different.

The feeling of not wanting to go on is not a sign that you should end your journey on earth but rather a prompting for you to accept your emotions. To really feel that low moment. Understand why it’s there.. Who caused it? What caused it? And Why it was necessary for you to endure that specific pain. We often feel life is unfair and we compare our struggles with that of others but the universe would never give you something that you didn’t need. This in no way excuses people that have hurt you but it’s important for you to really understand your journey and to understand why certain things occurred the way they did.

The reason we end up feeling so low is because we allow the words and actions of others to defeat us. We live by the rules they create and we start basing our worth on the guidelines they draft. This isn’t our fault because it’s the way we’ve grown up to be. We were conditioned to think that way even before we learnt to read and it’s sad that sometimes the people who do that to us don’t even realise it because it’s become a norm.

There is going to be instances in life where others take control of our body or mind and at that moment we are unable to stop them. But it doesn’t mean we have to continue to live that way. Being sad and feeling low is natural and we have to go through that feeling for as long as it takes our scar tissue to heal, but I want you to always remember you will not feel this way forever. You are an important part of this universe and right now you need to say to yourself I’m thankful for the experience of this low feeling and when I’m ready I will choose to explore my other emotions because I am in control of my life and my feelings, and I am the only one who can make that decision.
